The Great Mountain Forest Corporation was established by Edward (Ted) C. Childs as a charitable foundation dedicated to conserving 6000+ acres of forestland in northwestern Connecticut as a sustainably managed working forest.   GMF provides a vital resource for education, research and recreation in a healthy forested ecosystem that is regularly monitored by a professional forestry crew.   Support from endowment, government grants, managed timber sales and generous annual appeal funds help to conserve this important and unusual protected environment for the enjoyment of all.  If you are interested in knowing whence our money comes and where it goes, see below.
